Soundtrack Of Your Twenties

Hometowns with The Brazen Youth

Season 3 Episode 4

This episode is for anyone listening from their childhood bedroom. We discuss the unexpected change that is bound to happen in our lives, the growth that comes from pursuing through it, and the gratitude we gain after.

We interviewed The Brazen Youth on their new album Eagle, Idaho and discuss their writing process for this album, the inspiration behind some of their songs, and why the album is named after Eagle, Idaho.

Our conversation (and their song Hometown) leads us discuss, moving back to your hometown. Something that happens often and is not nearly as romanticized as moving to a west coast city

We added more stories to these lyrics with Dr. Tammy Kernodle, a distinguished professor at Miami University who specializes in African American Music and gender music studies. She shares stories from her own experience navigating life after collage and emphasizes the importance of CREATING the life you want even if it wasn't exactly what you planned.

So whether you're tackling your next great adventure from your childhood bedroom or in a new city, this episode has taught me that a lot of joy in life comes from accepting where you are and moving forward from there.
